War

The conflict of whether war is right or wrong seems to be as big as the actual conflict of wars. Americans and people across the whole world have different opinions of war. I believe war is just when there are crimes against humanity, or something that puts people of one's country in danger.
For example, the rise of Hitler and the Nazis was a crime against humanity because they murdered innocent people in concentration camps. It was right for countries to go to war against Germany in this situation because there was a "good" side and there was an "evil" side. In my opinion, countries should have been more prompt in going to war. However, there are many wars that I do not believe were right such as the War of 1812 and the Mexican American War that were caused by expansion and slavery,
I also believe war is just when people of a country are put in danger. After 9/11 I believe America was right to have a war against terror because we, the American people, were put in danger and killed. The same is with Pearl Harbor; we were right to attack the Japanese because they bombed Hawaii (but I think dropping 2 atom bombs was way overkill). As a developed country and world, we need to prevent atrocities like the Holocaust from occurring and protect our people no matter what.
