War

Niccolo Machiavelli wrote “The end justifies the means” in his novel The Prince; this quote is especially prevalent in times of war. Did the end result of a perfect blonde hair, blue eyed Aryan society justifies the mental, physical, and emotional torture of hundreds of thousands of Jews? Does the end result of less “terror” justify the thousands of both Americans and Middle Easterners dead and hundreds of families in mourning for the loss of their loved ones? I’m not an extreme right wing marijuana smoking go with the flow and hug every sapling you can find hippie, but I don’t think that the end ever justifies the means in war. Currently, America is facing two different wars on nouns: terror and drugs. Both have taken a huge economic and emotional toll on the United States and both seem to have no clear end in sight. However, how can a country prevail without conflict? United States has asserted its position has a rightful member of the Big Five not by being excellent in diplomacy, but through ruthless missions and battles. Some may think that it’s just the way nature intends things to be, for every winner must exist a loser and there always has to be one at the top of the food change. It may be impossible to ever harmoniously coexist, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't take charge and be an instigator of peace. "The future's ours to shape" -- Kim Wilde
