There is a Time for Everything
There is a time for life and a time for death. There is a time for peace and there is a time for war. There is a time for everything and while peace is always desired only a naive idealist would expect it to be the norm or an absolute. The morality of self defense is recognized legally. Invaders whether they attack home or nation accept the consequences of their actions. If a thief enters my home with the intent to harm me I have the legal right to defend myself with lethal force. We live in a world of thieves and wrong doers. Our world has countries driven by hate that are capable and often guilty of committing great atrocities. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor the United States was justified in retaliation. When the Persians pressed towards Sparta the Spartan Warriors were justified in defending their homes. War is terrible and the pain it causes is ghastly, but it is not unjustifiable. Sometimes we can't pick the battles we must fight.
