Techno

Technology is a beautiful thing. Everything becomes easier, faster, and better when you have a gadget at you're fingertips. Questions about anything and everything can be answered on a smart phone with apps or internet. It becomes very simple to get what you want. For example, I was in Louisville with some of my friends a couple weeks ago for a race. After it was over, we needed a place to eat. So first, I used my app called Food Finder. You enter the type of place you want to eat (casual, bagel place, drive-through, etc.) and it will give a list of the places that fit you're desire, and how many miles away it is. After we picked a place, I called from the direct phone number link to make sure they were open. Finally, I mapped us how to get there; getting a visual map and step by step directions on my phone. All of this was orchestrated on my iphone in the car. Technology is truly wonderful in that respect.

However, there are some downsides to technology when we become too dependent on it. We freak out when our phone dies, and feel like we have lost our connection to the world. I experienced this last night. I went to the UK football game yesterday, and I had planned to meet up with a bunch of my friends. We didn't come up with a meeting place because we would just communicate at the stadium. Well that was a terrible plan becasue as soon as I got near the stadium my phone refused to work. There is never any signal at the stadium because everyone is on their phones. So, I have no idea where any of my friends are, and they have no clue where I am. Their phones won't send either! So, I get stuck sitting in my actual seat with my parents because I have no clue what to do. Then, my phone died. So there was no hope at all. I was counting on my phone, and when it didn't work, my plans were ruined. Technology, great as it is, can cause frustration when our dependence on it ends up creating more problems.
