In response to the first question "Is there an absolute good and absolute evil", I feel inclined to say yes. I do think there are good forces and evil forces trying to infuence our choices. These vary based on one's religion, faith, or beliefs. As I am a Christian, absolute good is represented by God's love, while absolute value would be Satan and what he represents.
In society, however, I feel we tend to associate certain symbols, ideas, and even people into the realm o absolute evil. This is just quite ridiculous. I'd like to bring up an example most of us, even if you aren't as crazy about sports as I am, probably remember and has a lot to do with the manipulation of absolute goodand evil. A few summers ago, the Lebron James free agency sweepstakes captured the attention of every major sports entity in the country. James, whom many regarded as the best basketball player in the NBA, was with the Cleveland Cavaliers before he needed a new contract and had struggled to win with the team. He turned his free agency into a spectacle on national tv in order to raise money for a Boys and Girls Club in New Jersery, where he announced that he would be leaving Cleveland to join the Miami Heat and try to win his firt NBA Title. Cleveland fans regarded him with disgust and tried to make him look like a traitor and a bad guy. The bottom line is that their emotions got in way of reality. Miami had more money to spend and deservedly got Lebron James to sign with them. However, that didn't stop people from trying to make James seem like the most evil force in basketball. And to a certain extent, this manipulation of absolute evil worked. Many people developed an intense dislike towards him. This overshadowed the fact that Lebron was simply trying to fulfill the dream of every serious athlete: winning a championship. I truly believe that we don't need to incorporate values of absolute good and evil in society. However, media is persistent with trying to develop it into a spectacle to simply increase ratings and make profits. It's ridiculous.
