Good vs Evil

I think there's a sliding scale between good and evil and that it's impossible for people to reach absolute good or absolute evil. The reason I don't believe in absolute good is because people will always make mistakes that could have a negative impact on someone else whether it's intention or not. What makes a person shift on the scale towards "absolute good" is what they do and how they acknowledge their mistakes. Additionally, I think what helps make a good deed even better is the intentions behind it or how sincere the action was. Since people aren't mind readers, what motivates others is largely left up to individual interpretation. I don't believe in absolute evil either because I think there's always a reason or history behind why a person performs an "evil" act. The reason may be unclear or in-explainable to others, but in the moment of the action, the do-er has a reason for acting (whether it's momentary lapse of judgement, insanity, revenge, stupidity, etc.). I think whenever we act, we have varying degrees of "a struggle between good and evil". How we decide to act in the end is a result of our judgement of consequences. I think where a person lies on the scale between good and evil also reflects how well that person can control their emotions and make clear-headed decisions. Neither good nor bad can be eliminated from our world forever because both are up to interpretation and people judge actions differently.
