There are rules set up by society that certain things are good and that certain things are bad. For example, killing is bad. But when you change the scene from a robber killing an old lady to a soldier killing a soldier from a different army is becomes noble, they are defending their country. Now I don’t see this as a bad thing, but is the same act just in different context with opposite connotations.
I also think that everyone is good, while we all do bad things. We all lie at some point and most of us cheat on things as well. But all of this is due to the situation we are being put in. For example, when your parent asks you if you stole the cookie from the cookie jar, you are going to lie because you don’t want to get in trouble. While someone who is starving and homeless is probably going to try and steal things that they might need but don’t have any money for to buy.
As for good overcoming evil... I think Mr. Gandhi can put it best, “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”
