Blog Post 2: Yay technology and music!

How often do you use your ipod (or phone or whatnot)? What is your perfect playlist for ____ (fill in the blank - it could be your perfect playlist for a sunny day, for a road trip, for thanksgiving, etc.) Choose 5 songs, note the song and artist and why you chose the song.

I use my iPhone FAR too much (I'm guessing that's not really an uncommon feeling about the iPhone in general but I do feel a little bit justified because I bought it myself with money I made working at Graeter's this summer. Getting my money's worth isn't a bad thing, right? (...right?!)
Regardless, I use my phone for, of course, calling people (like my brother, who's a sophomore in college, yesterday! My whole family discussed logic problems over the phone.), texting friends, using Facebook, Twitter, etc. and I also use it for music. One thing I love about having my phone for music is that if I don't own a song, I can go onto YouTube and find a music video or lyric video that lets me listen to it--and that's great, considering my current iTunes balance is ~$1.24!
I love love love music. I have a tendency to go through phases (so making a 5-song playlist will be pretty tough); I'll be stuck for a few weeks on a certain band or genre, and then I find something else and get completely stuck on it instead. Currently I'm in a Les Miserables music phase; I think I could listen to "One Day More" nonstop for the next two weeks and never get sick of it. I do have other consistent favorite bands, including Coldplay, the Killers, Keane, Parachute, the Fray, and Relient K.

My Everyday Playlist (I know that as soon as I post this, I'll regret not picking other songs, so for the moment I'm just going to do the best I can)
1) One Day More-cast of Les Miserables Like I said, I'm in a Les Mis phase. This song just seems so empowering, and I love all of the references to the rest of the show that are made in it--you can hear Eponine sing "One more day I'm on my own..." and Madame and Monsieur Thinardier sing "catch 'em as they fall!" in tribute to "Master of the House."
2) Shiver-Coldplay I just love this song. It's classic Coldplay, what with the unique blend of music and the raw emotion behind the lyrics. It's one of my brother's favorite Coldplay songs, and when I listen to it, it reminds me of him and I wish that he were still home from college.
3) Spaceman-The Killers My brother actually introduced me to this song, too, but I'm putting it on this list because I love it a ridiculous amount and not necessarily because it reminds me of him. It reigned for awhile as My Official Favorite Song during my The Killers phase (would it be my Killers phase? That sounds morbid.), and it never really left. When I hear it, I just get excited and start singing along (but only if I'm alone).
4) Fix You-Coldplay "Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you." I've tried to figure out what Coldplay meant through this song--does it come from a parent's perspective? A friend? A boyfriend/girlfriend?--and I may never know what they really intended, but I do know that it just calms me down. Watching them perform it live at a concert last summer was absolutely fantastic; it was like everyone in the entire concert was helping everyone else get through whatever was troubling them.
5) Bend and Break-Keane I was listening to Pandora once and this song came up; it was one of those songs that didn't have to grow on me at all because I loved it as soon as I heard it. I don't really have any memories associated with it, like some of the others, but the melody of it just sounds so wonderful to me for some reason.

I wish I could pick more! (I probably am too fond of discussing music.)
