My Nerdy Songs

This blog is causing me stress. I CAN'T PICK ONLY FIVE! And I just remembered that you said that you didn't like all caps typing. I promise I wasn't screaming at you. Well I was having a very difficult time trying to think up my top five songs for this blog post, as I'm sure most people would. Even picking a playlist was tremendously hard. I think I finally settled on one that I most listen to and that probably represents me best. Aaaaand that would probably have to focus on my love of all things nerdy. I would have to say that one of my favorite genres of music is Wrock (the W standing for wizard). Yes, that means songs all about Harry Potter. I am convinced that at least a third of my iPod library is related to Harry Potter in some way. I often find myself dancing like a maniac to these upbeat songs.
I think one of my favorite "real" bands would have to be CCR or Huey Lewis and the News. However, most of the artists that I have been listening to recently have been those of the YouTube variety. All of their careers live on YouTube, meaning that their songs started there as well. And these songs are usually not just your typical love story ballad or pop song. They are almost entirely devoted to Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, Star Wars, or the occasional extremely geeky song about molecules and the expanding universe. I should also mention that I am a pretty big fan of movie/TV show scores. Most of my music also happens to be from soundtracks.

Anyway, on we go!

House Song by Ministry of Magic: This was the first song that introduced me to wizard rock, so I am very fond of it for bringing me into this most wonderful genre of music. Plus a little bit of humor is thrown in there so that's always fun.

Harry's Wondrous World by John Williams: This song has the power to make me extremely emotional seeing as it is the main theme of the Harry Potter movies since the very first film. It just makes me think of when all of the Harry Potter hype was starting and it makes me just a little bit depressed that it's all over. No more books or movies left to go. But the magic will live on!

Doctor Who Opening Credits (Series 4 Version) by Murray Gold: Well this one manages to get me hyped within seconds. It has trained my mind to expect the glory that is an episode of Doctor Who. Plus it's one of those songs that I belt out whenever it comes on despite the fact that there are absolutely no lyrics to be heard in it. Oh well.

Ready for Anything by Jason Munday- This is another one of my YouTube artists and he also happens to be a member of the previously mentioned band, Ministry of Magic. This song is another nerdy one because it's all about Star Wars. It's also upbeat and fun to dance to. I'm not very fond of slow, calm, ballad-type songs so that's probably why this one appeals to me.

Ok time to fill the last spot. This one is going to be a tough decision but I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and pick one. Ok here we go.

Opening Titles of Sherlock by David Arnold and Michael Price- Like the Doctor Who theme song, this one can get me hyped because I know a brilliant TV show follows it. It also manages to sound modern but at the same time like 19th century classic British music. It brings the old Sherlock into the modern world, just like the show.

Well that was tough but I did it! Also Hank Green is another awesome nerdy singer! Ok I need to stop myself now.
