Well, I’m still a firm believer in the radio (so old school,
I know), which is probably what I use the most, usually when I’m in my room or
in my car. My go-to stations are 92.9 (country), 98.1 (country), and 95.3
(Christian). I’m also pretty old school with my iPod, which is a fancy iPod
nano that I’ve had forever and ever and is actually out of space. Also, I hate
buying music, so I don’t really care for my iPod. When I do listen to music and
it’s not my super cool radio, I listen to Pandora and Spotify, or the CDs I get
from the library and Goodwill. Anyways, here’s my pump up jam for whenever I’m
in a good mood or want to be in a good mood:
1. Looking for a Good Time (Lady Antebellum)- Maybe I love
this song because I feel like I can actually sing it, but it’s the song that I
go to when I want to sing at the top of my lungs. The lyrics aren’t exactly
lined up with how I really think (it’s kind of about a one night stand), but it’s
still one of my favorites!
2. 3 Minute Song (Josh Wilson)- I first heard of Josh Wilson
when he came to my church and performed, which was incredibly awesome. This
song automatically became one of me and my brother’s favorite songs because it
just makes you smile! It talks about how difficult it is to define God in less
than three minutes in an upbeat way, and the song is exactly three minutes
long. It’s great.
3. Springsteen (Eric Church)- While it’s a huge country song
that everyone loves, this is definitely one of my favorites. I love Eric Church
and the whole meaning behind it. Maybe it’s just a great summer song and I’m still on that summer high, but I love
it because it just makes me happy (which is really the objective of a pump up
playlist).
4. The Age of Worry (John Mayer)- This song is obviously a
song about worry, and what better song than this to not feel worried? I like it
because it’s fast with a good beat and makes you feel great. “Alive in the age
of worry, smile in the age of worry, go wild in the age of worry and sing worry,
why should I care?” How can you frown listening to this song?
5. My Chick Bad (Ludacris and Nicki Minaj)- Okay, I swear,
my friends would laugh so hard at me if they knew this was one of my favorite
songs. I don’t like admitting it, but I love it. My brother thinks he’s a thug,
so a few years ago, he bought a ton of songs like this one and I secretly put
all of them on my iPod (they’re all on my workout playlist…). So one time in
middle school when I was with other guys and they mentioned this song, they
were shocked that a sweet little white girl like me knew it. It’s definitely
not the most appropriate (and not safe for playing loudly in the car with the
windows down), but I just laugh when I hear it and it makes me happy.
While I listen to country all day for the most part, I tried
to diversify my pump up jam playlist for this blog. I’d hate to put that I just
listen to Billy Currington all the time because “I love his voice.”
