Assignment #2

My Reggae Playlist
Amber by 311: I chose this song because it is very relaxing because of the laid back groove. It reminds me of the beaches in Hawaii because it is where i first heard this song at a bar/grille on the beach. It sends good vibes throughout the world around me when listening to it.

April 26, 1992 by Sublime: This song just gets me in a good mood. The rhythm section sets the song into a good groove, just like most reggae songs should have.

Green to Black by Revolution: The musicality of this song is the key example of what modern reggae is suppose to be. The hits on very up beat underlying the swung harmonic line gives a very mellow mood due to the blend in rhythms.

Pawn Shop by Sublime: Pawn shop is a very laid back, but still up beat song that gives the chill, mellow vibe that most all Sublime songs do.

I Shot the Sheriff by Bob Marley: This song is a classic. Bob Marley is what people first think of when they hear the word "reggae". He is an icon for this "Rastafarian" culture that Bob fused with the word "reggae", so people automatically think of green, red, and yellow when referring to the reggae culture.  This song shows his true colors when preforming this song. The down beats on the up beats lays picks the whole song up and gives it a happy and up-beat momentum of the song sets a bright, happy mood for the listener.
