20 Year Phenomenon

My life would have been dramatically different if I grew up twenty years ago. For starters, I wouldn’t have many of the friends I have and talk to almost every day.  I have friends in South Carolina, Northern Ohio, California and so on that I text or Facebook message all the time. I would not have been able to be this good of friends with these people had I grown up 20 years ago. I may of been able to stay in contact with them through letters or emails; but, both of these are much slower than a text message.  Those relationships would differ. Local relationships may have differed. I am not sure. I most likely would not have been as close of friends with my friends who live on the other side of Lexington or in surrounding counties. I value my friendships with those in and out of Lexington. My life would be different if I could easily communicate with them or my parents.
Communication and interaction would have been much more difficult than it is now, one reason being computers and cell phone size.  Twenty years ago computers and cell phones were  giants compared to modern computers and cell phones. My Samsung Galaxy s2 is 2.7” x 5.1” x 0.38” and weighs 4.6 oz. This much smaller than many of the cell phones in the 1900s. The size of cell phones and computers has shrunk dramatically since the 1900s.  Due to this shrink and function advancement, communication has been improved for me and my peers.
I would prefer to live in this modern time period. Simply because there are not many differences that occurred between now and the 1990s that didn't occur because of technological advancements. I love my phone. I am always on my phone checking Facebook, texting friends, or playing games. I am sure that if I had grown up in the 1900s I would have been perfectly happy with what I had. But, if I were forced to go back without the modern technology it would like be very difficult but still manageable. The technological change that occurred in in the last two decades are phenomenal.
