friend's nose

While I'm tempted to write about how "You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose" is the best piece of advice I've ever been given, I guess I'll be a little more serious.

My dad is one of the most stubborn, strong-headed, and bossy people I know. But he's also a driven, successful, productive, intelligent leader, and I aspire to be like him someday.

When I was little, he told me this story of these women that graduated from Harvard that each went on to be CEOs of different companies and when they were interviewed, they said that they just knew they could do it. He told me that I could do anything I put my mind to and since then, it was always something that I really thought of. His biggest thing is hard work and told me that if I really wanted something, I COULD do it, but only if I put in my hardest effort with everything I had.

This small piece of advice really has stuck with me and the value of hard work is something I put a lot of emphasis into. You don't have to be the smartest, prettiest, most skilled, most outgoing, richest, or best, you just have to work the hardest and believe that it can be accomplished.
