Advice Blog

I think the best piece of advice I've ever been given is to be genuine and honest in everything that you do and not to worry about what everyone else is doing. I've always seen people try and lie or cheat their way through everything. In the short term, it feels as if they're being rewarded for their character or lack thereof. They may get an extra point or two here and there. They might even get a higher grade. I've always been held to high academic standards, but my parents have made it perfectly clear that it's much worse to take a lower grade then cheat your way through a test, a class, or life.

This is the same thing emphasized in Legendary UCLA Basketball Coach John Wooden's Pyramid of Success. Here he gives a specific definition to success with transcends much farther than a basketball court in Westwood.

"Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable" -John Wooden

If I can look back at my life and know that I achieved such success, then I will have lived an exciting and rewarding life.
