The best advice I can remember was a few months back when Clay recommended that I watch the seminal science-fiction television series The X-Files. Naturally, I had heard of the show; the names Scully and Mulder sounded familiar to me, but I had no context for this, no experience with the series. I was aware that the all nine seasons (200 one-hour freaking episodes) were on Netflix instant streaming, so I added it to my queue and figured I would get to it eventually. However, I soon found my blood riddled with salmonella and was forced into a sickly state of television watching for two weeks. I quickly burned through any movies that I needed to see, and the first season of Sherlock, so I finally decided to start The X-Files. I am unsure of whether it was the fact that I was horribly ill and fevered or that it was near Halloween or that the show itself is somewhat disturbing, but the watching experience had me terrified and glued to the screen. I finished the first season rather quickly and could not figure out exactly what it was that had me returning - and what keeps me returning even now - but I love it. I am currently in the middle of the fourth season, and I am loving it.
