1) Describe a recent dream. Is there anything strange that happened in that dream or in a series or dreams?
2)Where will you be in twenty years?
3) If you could create a room in your house, what would it look like?
I like all of these prompts. Who doesn't always think about where or what they will be doing in the future. I know I do. But, that is not the prompt I am planning to answer. While my dreams are pretty creepy I am going to answer prompt number 1. Prompt one was asked of me, in a way, by dad.
My father always talked about how he can control his dreams. He calls this trait lucid dreaming. (Lucid dreaming was given its name by Fredrick van Eeden. In lucid dreaming, the dreamer is capable of exerting some degree of control over their participation within the dream.) Yes lucid dreaming, sounds like something made up. But, it is real. My dad says he he developed this ability and I believe I have too. I have the ability to control some aspects of dreams but not all. For example, over the summer I had a dream where I opened the sliding living room door and noticed that the front door was open. Well, my parents were not home and the door is never left open when they are not home. So, I became slightly freaked out at that point. But, nothing else seemed to be wrong. I walked down the stairs and right when I turned the corner a man ran at me and simply knocked me over. Then, the dream went black for a second and when it started back I was walking down the steps again. Again, I turned the corner and like last time a man ran at me. This time, however, I pulled a knife out of my pocket and stabbed him. The dream went black again and restarted again. This process continued over and over again. Once where he had a knife and killed me; then he had a gun, then I had a gun, then we fought hand-to-hand combat and so forth. Until, I could finally wake myself up. But, once I woke myself up I couldn't go back to sleep in fear that the man would be in them again. The worst part about this dream is that it kept replaying itself and something different happened every time. I was capable of controlling what happened to a degree, once I turned the corner. But, not all the time. Of course, I did not choose to be killed several times. I did not choose to have the dream play over and over again either.
A majority of the dreams that occur when I am asleep in my bed are scary/ horror dreams. Now, I have had good dreams that I can control. Once, I had a dream that I had met the perfect guy. I could control everything in that dream. I controlled the guy's characteristics, actions and what would happen in the dream. That, of course, was a good dream.
