This day is notable because, depending on where you are, it may not even exist.
Today is a day that was virtually deleted in Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain with the official implementation of the Gregorian calendar. I would consider this quite a good thing because it is a small effect of a rather important transition to a more accurate universal dating system. The previous Julian calendar was understandably slightly inaccurate, and the Gregorian calendar proposed more accurate measurements of the year. This is an important step to more civilized, unified globe with emerging society. This may not seem momentous, but I believe this is a subtle yet important step towards modern living. I most certainly appreciate the attempts of the Church to make a standard calendar and am glad that this day was deleted from some records if only for the greater good of society.
