I use my iPhone way too much, like its sad. I am trying to use it less but it is just so tempting! I use it mostly for texting two of my best friends, one graduated from Henry Clay last year and another one who moved to France after my 7th grade year. Its great that I can stay in touch with them so easily!
My perfect playlist for a road trip totally brings out my geekiness. So here are my top 5 songs for that playlist:
1. First Suite in E-Flat for Militairy Band (Performed by US Air Force Band)
2. Lincolnshire Posy (Peformed by US Marine Band)
3. Shostrakovich: Symphony No. 10 (Performed by Atlanta Symphony Orchestra)
4. Nothing Like the City (from the musical "Ragtime")
5. Canterbury Chorale (performed by Osaka Municipal Symphonic Band)
So the first two selections are pieces that I played in Wind Ensemble last year and I think they are just gorgeous, as soon as we started playing them I fell in love with them. Playing them allows me to appreciate the difficulty they contain and make me appreciate the excellence with which the Air Force and Marine Bands execute them.
The third selection is what my marching band show Freshman year was based on, I found the music interesting with all the different turns it has and I think every time I sitll find something new, a new layer that I didn't find the first time.
The fourth song on my playlist list is from the show Ragtime which is my dad's favorite Broadway show, I love the layering within the song and I think its awesome how it fits into the rest of the story.
Lastly I chose the fifth piece because I think it has a sort of elegance and relaxedness to it. It always calms me down and I think it is played just effortlessly.
There is my geeky playlist.
Until next week,
Rebecca
