Blog post #2--My Perfect Playlist

Question:

How often do you use your ipod (or phone or whatnot)? What is your perfect playlist for ____ (fill in the blank - it could be your perfect playlist for a sunny day, for a road trip, for thanksgiving, etc.) Choose 5 songs, note the song and artist and why you chose this song.

Answer:

Honestly, if you know me at all or see me around school in the mornings, you won't find me without my headphones on.  Ask any of my friends and they'll tell you about how I never hear any of their questions (and usually ask for repeats of them).  I don't recall the last day I went without listening to my purple iPod Nano (4th generation), which I find to be better than any iPhone generation.  When I do my homework, I'm usually listening to my iPod or iTunes as I work.  In the mornings, my iPod is playing as I get ready for school.  I'd say that on average, I listen to my iPod for a good several hours each day.  The iPod Nano is perfect for taking places since it's not absolutely huge.  Also, if I were to lose it (which has only happened once in the past three years that I've had this Nano--six years if you count my previous Nano), it wouldn't have both my music and my phone on it.  I prefer to keep my music and my communication devices separate, anyway.
I'm not sure what the average number of playlists is for people with iPods/iPhones, but I have 12, which I'm pretty sure is a bit more than normal.  One of my playlists just has a list of my favorite songs out of my entire music library.  The songs that are listed below would be the five songs within that playlist that most brighten my mood (currently) besides Disney music.

1.  "King and Lionheart" by Of Monsters And Men:  This song is very different from normal music.  It's so soothing, and the melody has a great tune.  I'm not sure how to describe it; it's one of those songs you kind of have to listen to before you can appreciate it.
2.  "Roll Away Your Stone" by Mumford and Sons:  I could honestly listen to this song on repeat for days.  It has amazing rhythm, and the lyrics are, well, amazing.  The parts that simply have a guitar and voice are absolutely beautiful.  Oh, not to mention that the harmony is amazing, but... It really is.
3.  "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers:  Well, first-of-all, the band who sings this song is Scottish.  Enough said? ...But seriously, this song is so catchy. It's great for running.  But honestly, the rhythm is very upbeat, and it just makes me feel great... and a little silly sometimes.
4.  "Something Good Can Work" by Two Door Cinema Club:  You will probably have to Google the lyrics to this chorus before you could understand what this song is saying because the chorus is super fast.  Once you know it, though, it's a lot of fun to sing!  Again, the rhythm is very fast and upbeat.  Also, the lyrics make me feel like I can get any terrible situation to work in the end.  I hope that makes sense.
5.  "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence + The Machine:  Where do I begin with this song?  Again, the melody and the rhythm are just so upbeat that it's hard not to feel more cheerful after listening to it.  Belting this song with a bunch of friends is especially enjoyable.
(And just because I like giving recommendations, here are five more):
6.  "Mouthwash" by Kate Nash:  This song is very light and bouncy.  It's one of those songs with lyrics that don't exactly have a purpose except to cheer people up.  This artist is also British, so trying to sing the song with an accent is pretty fun.
7.  "I Can Lift A Car" by Walk the Moon:  This is another fun song to sing.  The lyrics sort of make me feel like I can do anything (lift a car?).
8.  "Dress and Tie" by Charlene Kaye (feat. Darren Criss):  I absolutely adore this artist, and it was hard just to find one of her songs that I love.  Anyway, this is a duet she has, and I think the lyrics are cute, and the tune is very light and jazzy.
9.  "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me"  by Billy Joel:  This makes me feel very cheerful because it reminds me that if I like something, I should keep on enjoying it despite what everyone else is into.  Plus, Billy Joel is just... awesome.
10.  "The A Team" by Ed Sheeran:  I'm obsessed with singing in harmony, and this is one of the best songs to sing harmony to.  Again, the lyrics are cute, and I love Ed Sheeran's voice with the guitar.  It's beautiful.
