Hi! I am Mason Duke. The best way to describe me is busy! I have many things that I am involved in and am always on the go. I am very shy before you get to know me but after getting to know me I am extremely sarcastic.
My personal goals for school this year are to make straight
A’s, receive hopefully 5’s but at least 4’s on all of my AP exams, and to
narrow down where I would like to college to two choices. I also have personal
goals in dance which is by far my favorite thing to do. I love ballet, jazz,
tap, modern, and contemporary dance but my favorite is tap. My goal this year
is to grow as a tap dancer and to place overall with my solo.
The most meaningful part of my summer vacation was going to
Myrtle Beach, SC and Ocean Isle Beach, NC. I participated in a dance competition
in Myrtle Beach, SC for a week and it was great to be able to compete against
some of the best dancers in America. The next week I traveled about an hour
north to Ocean Isle Beach with my closest friends from dance. This week was the
most fun and the most inspiring of my summer. While we were there we went to karaoke
night at the local restaurant. A blind man came in and
sang during the karaoke. It was so inspiring to me because he had lost so much in his life but then
he also had an amazing voice. He was so passionate about his singing and it
made me want to be like him. I never know when anything can be taken away from me
so because of this man I try to surround myself with the things that I love. I
pour my heart into them and I don’t hold back.
The thing that geeks me out the most is dancing. I love any
type of dance. Dancing is something that lets me express my feelings. I feel
like this is such a cliché thing to say but is so true. It takes my mind off of
everything. I love watching dance and getting new ideas from other people by
watching them. There is so much out there that I have not been exposed to and I
love to see new things and try them in dance.
My favorite website is http://www.youtube.com/ because I love to
watch videos of dance so that I can be inspired. My picture is of my friend and
I hugging while we were listening to the blind man singing at karaoke this
summer.
